I hope this communication find you in the best of health and prosperous with God’s many blessings.
This communication is written to inform you about upcoming events surrounding the Grand Youth Conference in Killeen, Texas. Please note that this will be the only mail-out for this information so please keep this paperwork in a safe place. Also, please share this information with your Worthy Matron and Chapter Members.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS
Howard Johnson Hotel has been chosen for the Grand Youth Conference scheduled for July 25 – 26, 2008, in Killeen, Texas. Howard Johnson Hotel is located at 803 Central Texas Expressway, Killeen, Texas 76541. The rooms are $69.00 per night plus tax. Please reserve your room(s) ASAP by calling 254-526-4343. The rooms are being held under Norris Wright Cuney Youth Fraternity. The absolute deadline for reserving a room is June 15, 2008. When trying to reserve your room(s), if you are told that all rooms have already been taken for Norris Wright Cuney Youth Fraternity, please call Sis. McGill at 281-261-4903.

GRAND YOUTH CONFERENCE – JULY 25 – 26, 2008
TALENT SHOW
The Talent Show will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Grand Youth Conference and will represent an array of talent to include: Singing, Poetry, Drama (Educational Short Play or Skit) Praise Dancing, High – Stepping (Please, No Offensive Routines) and Musical Instruments. Each Youth Fraternity is asked to participate. Using the enclosed talent show form, Please select only THREE different talents per Youth Fraternity. The deadline for submitting the talent show form is June 7, 2008. However, please e-mail Sis. Whitmire at: llwhitmire@msn.com before the deadline and give her the talent your Youth Fraternity will be performing so that she and her assistants can adequately prepare for the 2008 Grand Youth Conference. If you have any GRADUATING SENIORS in your Youth Fraternity, please notify Sis. Whitmire IMMEDIATELY so that she and her assistants can adequately prepare for the seniors at the 2008 Grand Youth Conference. Please e-mail her at: l1whitmire@msn.com to give their names. Also, enclosed is a SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION for the Norris Wright Cuney Grand Chapter Scholarship of $1,000 to be equally divided among each 2008 graduating senior participating in a NWCG Youth Fraternity. The application is due on or before May 31, 2008. After completing the SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION, please mail it to: Sis. KING AND QUEEN CONTEST
Each Youth Fraternity is REQUIRED to represent at the Grand Youth Conference with two contestants regardless of gender or age. The contestants representing with the highest amount of money will be crowned King and Queen. The King and Queen will be presented on Friday, July 25, 2008.
YOUTH FRATERNITY OF THE YEAR
Youth Fraternity of the year will be awarded to the Youth Fraternity having the highest number of points according to the guidelines below:
(Nursing Home visits, Charitable Donations,
Heart, Cancer, Diabetes, or UNCF walks, etc.)
2. Youth Workshops 20 Points
3. King and Queen Participation: 30 Points
(Fraternities can only receive these points if they
have 2 contestants participating at the Conferencce)
4. Special Events: 10 Points
(Palm Sunday, Prince Hall Day, OES Activities,
Special Fraternity Outings, etc.)
5. New Members: 10 Points (New members are Youth that joined
your Fraternity between August 2007 thru July 2008

TOTAL POINTS 100 Points
*Please note that the Youth Fraternity of the Year for 2007-2008 should represent events, activities, etc. that were done August 2007 thru July 2008. Please document each category by submitting pictures and a brief write-up about the activity. All “Youth Fraternity of the Year” entries are to be turned in at the registration table when your Youth Fraternity registers on Friday, July 25, 2008. Youth Fraternity of the Year will be awarded on Saturday July 26, 2008 before the session is closed.
ATTENDANCE TROPHY
The attendance trophy will be presented to the Youth Fraternity with the greatest number of Youth members in attendance at the Grand Youth Conference, and not how many names are on the registration sheet. The attendance award will be awarded on Saturday, July 26, 2008 before the session is closed.
“YOUTH HELPING YOUTH” PROGRAM
The “Youth Helping Youth” Program, created by the NWCGC Youth Fraternity, help less fortunate schools or other groups that work with children by donating school supplies. The school supplies will be awarded on Friday, July 25, 2008. The supplies will be collected as a group by each Youth Fraternity. Youth Fraternity Sponsors, please have your Youth Fraternity to start early and collect at least 12 or more of EACH of the following school supplies and bring the items to the Grand Session in Fort Worth, TX on June 20, 2008.
Don’t forget to get OES Chapters and Masonic Lodges in your city involved with the school supply drive.
2008 REGISTRATION FORM
A Registration Form for the 2008 Grand Youth Conference is enclosed. The fee is $12.00 for Youth and $15.00 for Adults. Registration forms are due on or before June 1, 2008. However, please notify Sis. Whitmire ASAP with an approximate head count as to how many Youth, Youth Sponsors and Adults will be attending from your Youth Fraternity. Her e-mail address is: llwhitmire@msn.com. This information is very, very, important for eating arrangements. Registration will include a T-shirt, bag and name badge. 2008 FUNDRAISER INFORMATION
The fundraiser for 2008 will be the Scratch and Help. You should have already received a sample of the Scratch and Help in mail. Enclosed is a letter explaining the details for the fundraiser. If you did not receive a sample in mail, please contact Sis. McGill @ 281-261-4903.
